Emissions Testing in Frankfurt am Main – Schedule an Appointment with Our Auto Workshop Today!
Bring your car to our workshop for an inspection every two years.
Vehicle safety is of paramount importance. For this reason, regulations mandate an emissions test (AU) every two years for both gasoline and diesel vehicles. This test is an integral part of the general vehicle inspection (HU) and must be performed by an authorized testing center – such as our auto workshop.
What is involved in a car emissions test (AU)?
During the emissions test, we check for pollutants and gases being released into the environment through the exhaust system. For gasoline-powered vehicles, these include carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, oxygen, and nitrogen oxides. When inspecting a diesel vehicle, the primary focus is on the exhaust's opacity level caused by soot particles. To determine these values, we insert a probe into the exhaust pipe while the engine is running.
What You Need to Know About the Environmental / Fine Dust Sticker
Since August 1, 2008, the environmental – or fine dust – sticker has been mandatory for all passenger cars, trucks, and buses operating within Germany's designated environmental zones. It serves as proof that a vehicle meets low-emission standards and is therefore authorized to drive within these zones.
By now, the environmental sticker is a mandatory requirement in almost all cities. The aim is to protect urban residents from harmful substances contained in vehicle exhaust fumes. Depending on the vehicle's EURO emission class, the sticker is issued in one of three colors: red, yellow, or green.
Vehicles with very high emission levels receive the red sticker, while the green sticker is reserved for vehicles with low pollutant emissions. The yellow sticker falls between the red and green categories.
Failure to display the environmental sticker on your vehicle may result in a fine of 100 euros.
